About the capacitance converter
Capacitance measures a component’s ability to store charge per unit voltage applied, with SI units of farads (F). One farad is enormous, so practical capacitors are rated in microfarads (μF), nanofarads (nF), or picofarads (pF). Power-supply bulk capacitors run into the millifarads, while ceramic decoupling caps live in pF–nF territory. What determines a capacitor’s capacitance?
C = ε A / d for a parallel-plate cap: dielectric permittivity × plate area, divided by gap. Larger area, thinner gap, and higher-ε dielectric all increase capacitance.
