About the temperature interval converter
Convert temperature differences (intervals) rather than absolute temperatures. For an interval, only the size of one degree matters — the offset between scales drops out. A 10 K change is the same as a 10 °C change, but only 18 °F. Use this for measurement uncertainties, gradients, and changes over time.
Frequently asked questions
-
Is a 1 K interval the same as a 1 °C interval?
Yes — 1 K and 1 °C are identical in size for differences. They only differ in absolute reference.
-
How many °F is a 1 °C interval?
A 1 °C interval equals exactly 1.8 °F (or 1.8 °R).
-
Why is this different from a normal temperature converter?
Absolute temperature uses both a scale factor and an offset. A difference cancels the offset, so we apply only the scale factor.
