About the electric conductance converter
Electric conductance is the reciprocal of resistance and measures how easily current flows through a component. The SI unit is the siemens (S), formerly called the mho (“ohm” backwards). Sensor and electrochemistry datasheets often quote conductance in millisiemens or microsiemens. Use this converter to translate between modern SI siemens and the older mho and abmho units.
Frequently asked questions
-
Is siemens the same as mho?
Yes. “Mho” is the older name; in 1971 the SI replaced it with “siemens” (S), but both refer to 1/Ω.
-
How do I convert ohms to siemens?
Take the reciprocal: G = 1 / R. So 1 kΩ corresponds to 1 mS, and 100 Ω corresponds to 10 mS.
